Robert McMahon, M.D.

Solving problems, providing peace of mind, and helping people achieve the best of health is what I like to do. I chose to become a physician because it is a caring occupation requiring scientific aptitude and good observational skills. I try to teach my patients something about themselves and how their digestive system works.

My specialty is Gastroenterology — my practice provides answers to questions about diseases involving the digestive tract. I provide hospital and outpatient consultations and perform a range of diagnostic and treatment procedures. The procedures include colonoscopy for colorectal cancer screening or inflammatory bowel disease, upper endoscopy for ulcers and complicated acid reflux, and ERCP for advanced bile duct therapy, pancreatic and liver disease management.

I am Board Certified by the ABIM in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

I want you to choose me and St Louis Gastroenterology Consultants for your digestive tract problems (esophagus, stomach, colon, bowel, liver, pancreas and liver disease). This is a lasting practice that has continued to attract new patients as well as serve existing patients for over twenty years. This practice provides a full variety of services for gastrointestinal problems. The assistance and insight of the five physicians in the practice are always available to each other. I am delighted that patients have made a choice to see me, returned as needed with new problems, and referred family and friends for their care as well.

I was raised in California. I moved to St. Louis to attend Washington University School of Medicine and received my M.D. degree there. I was in practice in Little Rock and St Louis as a gastroenterologist before joining St Louis Gastroenterology Consultants in 2001.

I have clinical faculty appointments with both Washington University and St Louis University Medical Schools. It is my privilege to participate in the training of future physicians from these institutions.

I am serving as a Council member of the St Louis Metropolitan Medical Society. I am the speaker for the House of Delegates of the Missouri State Medical Association. I am a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American College of Gastroenterology. I have been featured in a television segment regarding colon cancer screening as well as news publications regarding innovative techniques in gastroenterology.
